New Book “Ofício Múltiplo: poetas em outras artes”

With the collection Frontiers of Knowledge, the Institute for Comparative Literature Margarida Losa intends to divulge the outcome of the research developed within the scientific program Literature and Frontiers of Knowledge: Politics of Inclusion. The books published in this collection are a result of the theoretical and critical reflection undertaken both by the ILC members and other renowned researchers around the three fields of action that have characterized the activities of the Centre along the last two decades: Inter/Transculturalities, Intermedialities and Intersexualities.

Recurring to concepts and notions such as Memory, Exile, Gender, Sexualities, Human or Community, Frontiers of Knowledge aims at developing new ways for critically approaching transdisciplinary, interdiscursive and interartistic relations, thus relocating Literature and its study within a truly interdisciplinary community towards an inclusive society.

“Ofício Múltiplo: poetas em outras artes”, organized by Joana Matos Frias, Pedro Eiras and Rosa Maria Martelo, probes the work of authors who resort to many different kinds of artistic languages.  We use the phrase “ofício múltiplo” (“multiple crafts”) to describe this multiplicity of creative media. In its ample diversity, this collection outlines a journey across boundaries which challenges the established epistemological divisions between the arts and tests the waters of intermedial invention.
