Diogo Marques, an integrated member of ILCML, wins Artistic Creation Grant with a cyberliterary installation project based on the work of António Aragão
Diogo Marques, an integrated member of the Margarida Losa Institute for Comparative Literature – ILCML and a researcher at the Centre for Digital Culture and Innovation (CODA) at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, recently won an Artistic Creation Grant supported by the Municipality of Funchal, Madeira, with a practice-based research project on the work of António Aragão. Titled “Family Portrait(s)”, the project proposes the creation of a cyberliterary installation using augmented reality, combinatorial and generative literature, as well as facial animation technology based on Artificial Intelligence. The aim is to recreate a series of fictional biographies of several generations of families from Funchal, proposing a game between tradition and innovation that will involve active participation from local communities.
Developed in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Archive and Library of Madeira and the cyberliterary collective d1g1t0, the project also features two curators: Ana Salgueiro (researcher at CECC-UCP – Lisbon, coordinator of TRANSLOCAL and collaborator at CEHA-AV and UMa-CIERL – Funchal) and Inês Cardoso (researcher at ILCML, completing a doctoral thesis about the works of Salette Tavares and António Aragão).
The public presentation of the winners of the Artistic Creation Grants will take place at the Salão Nobre of the Municipality of Funchal on July 5th at 5 p.m., in the presence of the Mayor of Funchal, Dr. Pedro Calado.
