Reading Communities Shaping Identities
International Project
The European project ‘Reading Communities, Shaping Identities’ is part of the Erasmus+ programme – Cooperation in Higher Education (KA220 – 2023-1-PT01-KA220-HED-000158582 )
The project aims to develop reading and interpretation skills rooted in the concept of community while creating digital resources. Its ambition is to promote cultural diversity and intercultural understanding and to develop collections specifically adapted to the needs of French-speaking audiences. Through 4-day workshops, eight-day intensive programmes and the setting up of the Lirensemble digital platform, this consortium will explore and deepen research, methodologies and digital applications aimed at sharing literary texts and the dynamic creation of reading communities.
This project is in keeping with the spirit of the transnational network LEA! Lire en Europe Aujourd’hui transnational network, which, since its creation in 2007, has been exploring all aspects of the literary phenomenon, focusing on questions of theory and methodology.

Reading in Europe Today
Reading and Writing Literary Texts in the Age of Digital Humanities
International Project
The LEA! group has received a three-year European grant to carry out a project about reading strategies and literary and critical texts publications. The project was based at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University of Budapest, and the researchers involved in the project seek new reading strategies, as well as new methods to disseminate them. These new methods are pivotal to turn the act of reading into a richer experience, especially taking into consideration the current means of communication, in which images are predominant.
The project was funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership action (2017-1-HU01-KA203-035921), as part of the network LEA – Lire en Europe Aujourd’hui / Reading in Europe Today, which had ILCML as a founding member. The research team included the following ILCML researchers: Ana Paula Coutinho, José Domingues de Almeida and Maria de Fátima Outeirinho.
