José Eduardo Reis

José Eduardo Reis is associate professor at the University Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) where he teaches ​​literary studies. He is a full  member at the Institute for Comparative Literature Margarida Losa (ILCML) of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto (FLUP) where he has been researching comparative literature with a focus on utopian literary and cultural studies. He holds an MA in compartive literary studies with a thesis on the  philosophical influence of Schopenhauer in the literary work of Jorge Luís Borges and a PHD on comparative literature with a thesis on  the spirit of utopia in Portuguese and English literary cultures (FCG / FCT, 2007). He is the author of several articles in academic reviews (30), essays and book chapters (21), editor of two Portuguese literary utopias, Ângelo Jorge’s Irmânia (2004) and Amílcar de Sousa’s Redenção (2011), co-editor of Nowhere, Somewhere(2006), and  Utopian Foodways: Critical Essays (2019,) co-organizer of the 36 th edition of Cadernos Literatura Comparadaon Utopia and  Food (2017), and author of the book Os Médicos de “O Vegetariano” (2019). He is a member of the editorial board of the academic journals Letras Vivas, Nova Águia, Cultura entre Cultura se Atlante. He is a member of the international advisory board of the Pioneer Works of Portuguese Culture and a member of the International Committee on the Global History of Portuguese Literature (HGLP). He is peer-review of the academic journals Utopian Studies (Penn State University Press), Cadernos de Literatura Comparada (FLUP), Vista Panorâmica (FLUP), APEAA Op. Cit. In 2011 he was a visiting professor in the department Germanic and Romance studies at the University of New Delhi (India).
