Jorge Vicente Valentim

Jorge Vicente Valentim is Doctor in Portuguese Literature, by the Faculty of Languages and Literatures of UFRJ, with a doctoral thesis on interart dialogues in the fiction of Hélder Macedo and Vergílio Ferreira and in the poetry of Albano Martins. Currently, he is Full Professor of Literatures of Portuguese Language at the Department of Linguistics and Literature and Permanent Professor of the Graduate Program in Literature Studies at UFSCar/SP, where he also coordinates the Portuguese and African Literary Studies Group (GELPA / UFSCar). Among her research projects are “Reading the 21st century: the brand new Portuguese fiction” (CNPq Research Production Scholarship) and “Silenced Xerazades: female authorship writing in Portugal (1940-1970)” (ProEx/ UFSCar). He was a finalist for the Jabuti Prize, in 2017, in the category “Theory and Literary Criticism”, with the work “Corpo no outro corpo”: homoeroticism in contemporary Portuguese narrative (EDUFSCar, 2016), resulting of his Post-Doctoral research with Senior Scholarship by CAPES, held at the University of Porto, under the supervision of Profa. Dra. Isabel Pires de Lima. He is President of ABRAPLIP (Brazilian Association of Portuguese Literature Professores), in the biennium 2022-2023, and Research Productivity Scholarship by CNPq.
