Gonçalo Vilas-Boas

Gonçalo Vilas-Boas is a member of the Institute for Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, where he was a professor for German and Comparative Literatures. His main fields of expertise are Swiss German speaking literature, such as Robert Walser, Franz Kafka, Annemarie Schwarzenbach, Max Frisch, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Patrick Süskind, Erika e Klaus Mann, Hugo Loetscher, Christian Kracht, Lukas Bärfuss, Peter Stamm, Antje Rávic Strubel, and themyths around the labyrinth, travel literature, specially Annemarie Schwarzenbach, and crime fiction in German. He has also studied August Strindbers dramas. He has publshed three books by Annemarie Schwarzenbach. His most recent books are Macht in der Deutschschweizer Literatur (Gonçalo Vilas-Boas /Teresa Martins de Oliveira, eds., 2012), Revisitar Annemarie Schwarzenbach(2016) and Viagens pela Literatura Suíça. Ensaios (2018).
